200 W 200 VAC G5 servo drive on EtherCAT
The Omron R88D-1SN02H-ECT is a 200 W, 200 VAC-input member of the Accurax G5 servo family with EtherCAT communications. The "1SN" prefix denotes the 200 VAC EtherCAT variant — the most common G5 platform in Europe and the rest of the world outside Japan.
EtherCAT (CoE — CAN application layer over EtherCAT) is the default motion bus for Omron's NJ and NX-series machine controllers. The drive participates in the standard CIA 402 profile (position, speed, torque, homing modes), with cycle times down to 250 µs. Commissioning is done in Sysmac Studio: add the drive to the EtherCAT network, configure the PDO map, and the G5 axis appears as a standard axis object in the controller's motion tree.
The 200 W power level suits small to mid-size axes: indexing tables, small conveyors, labelling heads, screw-driving stations, light-pick gantries. The matching motor is the R88M-1M20030T or R88M-1M20030T-B (200 VAC, 3000 rpm). The drive carries a built-in regenerative resistor that handles the 200 W duty without an external unit.
The "-ECT" suffix is the EtherCAT variant. For the equivalent MECHATROLINK-II drive at the same power, see the R88D-KN02H-ML2. For the analog/pulse-train drive, see the R88D-KT02H.
Typical Applications
- 200 W servo axes on packaging and labelling machines
- Screw-driving and assembly stations on Sysmac NJ / NX
- Small-format pick-and-place gantries
- Indexing tables and small rotary axes
- Bench-top laboratory automation with EtherCAT motion
Buying Checklist
- Verify you need 200 VAC (this drive) and not 100 VAC (R88D-1M variant) — they are not interchangeable
- If you need safety (STO/SS1/SLS), choose the -Z variant, not this standard drive
- Match the motor to the drive's 200 VAC 3000 rpm class
- For MECHATROLINK-II, see the R88D-KN02H-ML2; for analog/pulse, see the R88D-KT02H
- Use Omron's specified EtherCAT cable — generic Cat 5e is not rated for the motion duty cycle

Frequently Asked Questions
What controller works with this drive?
Any Omron NJ or NX series controller with EtherCAT master (the standard configuration). The drive is configured in Sysmac Studio as a generic EtherCAT slave using the CIA 402 profile, and the axis appears in the Motion Control Tree.
What motor do I pair with this drive?
The R88M-1M20030T (no brake) or R88M-1M20030T-B (with brake) in the 200 VAC 3000 rpm family. The drive auto-detects the encoder resolution on power-up.
Does this drive support STO?
No. The standard -ECT drive does not include safety functions. For STO / SS1 / SLS, order the -Z variant (R88D-1SN02H-ECT-Z).
What is the smallest EtherCAT cycle time I can use?
250 µs. The drive supports 250 µs / 500 µs / 1 ms / 2 ms / 4 ms. For most packaging and small assembly machines, 500 µs or 1 ms is plenty and gives more headroom on the EtherCAT bus for other slaves.
