The Omron R88M-K20030H-S2 is a 200 W, 200 VAC, 3000 rpm member of the Accurax G5 K-series servo motor family, with a keyed shaft and a 24 VDC electromagnetic brake. The "R88M-K" prefix is the current K-series G5 motor; "20030" is 200 W at 3000 rpm; "H" the 200 V class; "-S2" the keyed-shaft-with-brake variant.

The K-series is the current low-inertia G5 motor family, replacing the older G-series. It uses a 20-bit incremental encoder (1,048,576 counts/rev) which, combined with the G5 drive's high-resolution feedback loop, gives smooth low-speed performance and tight position holding.

The keyed shaft is for applications requiring positive shaft drive — gear-coupled loads, lead-screw couplings, and other high-torque connections where a set-screw on a smooth shaft would be marginal. The 24 VDC brake is spring-applied, electrically released — fail-safe on power loss.

Matching drive: R88D-KN02H-ECT (200 W, 200 V or 400 V, EtherCAT) or R88D-KT02H (200 W, 200 V, analog/pulse). For safety, use the -Z suffix drives. The 50 mm frame keeps the motor compact for small-format machines.

The R88D-KN02H-ECT (EtherCAT) or R88D-KT02H (analog/pulse) in the 200 W 200 V family. For safety, order the -Z variant.

Why is the shaft keyed?

Keyed shafts are for applications where positive drive is required: gear couplings, lead-screw couplings, and any high-torque load where a set-screw on a smooth shaft would be marginal. The keyway can introduce a small imbalance at very high speeds, but at 3,000 rpm this is not an issue.

Is this motor compatible with the older R88D-GT drives?

No. The R88M-K is the K-series G5 motor and pairs only with the K-series G5 drives (R88D-KN, R88D-KT). For the older SMX/SMY drives, you need the older R88M-G or M-series motors.
